FIREPOCTEP+ Conference – Innovation and cross-border forest fire prevention

ENAs part of the FIREPOCTEP+ project, focused on the prevention and extinction of forest fires along the Cross-Border Strip between Spain and Portugal, this technical conference will be held in Ourense (Spain) on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, to analyze the challenges faced by the territory.After an especially harsh summer due to the number of hectares burned in both Spain and Portugal, it is clear that we must continue joining forces to prevent fires and promote innovative solutions and the green circular economy, among other measures, to reduce the risk of wildfires.The event is divided into three parts: Part 1. Institutional opening and participation of authorities. Part 2. “Landscape and prevention from the local level.” Presentations by experts addressing the territorial challenges, as well as the search for European financial sustainability for preventive and operational initiatives in the area. Part 3. Co-creation space – resolution of the Hackthon-Accelerathon-Climathon competition: “From research to business: innovation against wildfires.” A jury will evaluate and select the most promising innovative solutions to be scaled up and supported by the FIREPOCTEP+ project through the mentorship program to be held in 2026. PTNo âmbito do projeto FIREPOCTEP+, focado na prevenção e extinção de incêndios florestais ao longo da Linha Transfronteiriça Hispano-Portuguesa, este evento técnico realizar-se-á em Ourense (Espanha) na terça-feira, 2 de dezembro de 2025, para analisar os desafios que o territorio transfronteiriço.Após um verão particularmente rigoroso devido ao número de hectares ardidos tanto em Espanha como em Portugal, não resta outra opção senão continuar a unir esforços para prevenir incêndios e a apostar em soluções inovadoras e na economia verde circular para prevenir incêndios, entre outras medidas. O evento está dividido em três partes: Parte 1. Abertura institucional e participação de autoridades. Parte 2. "Paisagem e prevenção a nível local". Intervenções de especialistas sobre os desafios da região, bem como a busca pela sustentabilidade financeira europeia para iniciativas preventivas e operacionais no territorio de intervenção. Parte 3. Espaço de cocriação – resolução do concurso Hackthon-Accelerathon-Climathon: "Da investigação aos negócios: inovação contra incêndios". Este concurso contará com um júri que determinará as soluções inovadoras mais adequadas a serem dimensionadas e apoiadas pelo projeto FIREPOCTEP+ durante o processo de mentoria que decorrerá em 2026.
